During my recent visit to Dharamshala, I had the opportunity to meet a truly inspiring personality—Er. Vikas Sood, Chief Engineer of HPPWD, Kangra. As Editor-in-Chief of HR Media Group, I, Rajesh Suryavanshi, was warmly welcomed into his beautifully maintained office. The atmosphere reflected not only professional discipline but also a sense of calm and grace—just like the man himself. Amid ongoing work schedules and files of developmental projects, Er. Sood took time to speak candidly, sharing insights into his work, values, and vision for Himachal’s infrastructure growth.

Er. Vikas Sood – A Gentle and Dynamic Leader of HPPWD Kangra

Er. Vikas Sood, the Chief Engineer of Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (HPPWD) for Kangra, is not just a high-ranking officer but a tru gentleman admired by many. Kangra, the largest district of Himachal Pradesh, is a challenging region to manage. Yet under his leadership, the department is running efficiently and smoothly. He leads a strong team of 21 Executive Engineers (XENs), all working under his guidance.

A proud resident of Rajpur village near Palampur, Er. Vikas Sood is deeply respected both within the department and among the people of the region. Known for his calm and soft-spoken nature, he maintains a constant smile on his face, reflecting a warm and positive personality. His honesty and dedication to his work set a fine example for others. He is a hardworking, workaholic officer who takes personal interest in every major project and ensures its timely completion with quality.

Not only is he admired for his professional excellence, but people also talk about his pleasant personality—he is polite, humble, and well-mannered. His handsome appearance and confident presence make him stand out in any gathering. More importantly, his sincerity, discipline, and decision-making ability have helped solve many pending issues in the department.

Palampur, often called the tea capital of North India, is proud to have given such a fine officer to the state. Locals see him not just as an officer, but as a role model for the younger generation.

He is often seen inspecting fieldwork, interacting with engineers and local people alike, ensuring that development work benefits the public in real ways.

Under his capable leadership, the roads, buildings, and infrastructure works in Kangra are progressing fast, earning appreciation from politicians, public representatives, and common citizens. Many believe that with his dedication and clean image, Er. Vikas Sood is a strong candidate to soon become the Engineer-in-Chief of Himachal Pradesh.
